Most of these recipes are created for Healing Stage 1 as it can take 2 or more rounds to successfully reduce the bacterial burden. Scroll down to see some recipes for Healing Stage 3. Please note that depending on how bad your leaky gut condition and gut motility dysfunction, you may want to get a food intolerance test and avoid less easily digestible foods such as carrots and meat. Be vigilient of intolerance reactions and keep track of everything on a calendar or in a diary. Make sure you read the SIBO Diet page to understand why we include the foods we do.
These recipes are designed for people who have developed an intolerance to most seeds (except some spices), nuts and grains. NO SUGAR IN ANY FORM IS INCLUDED, or indeed anything else which might contribute to or worsen SIBO. They are mostly vegan dishes but as the SIBO-safe diet doesn't include plant-based protein, it's important to occassionally eat fish or eggs (depending on the state of your gut) to secure sufficient protein intake. How much protein you need depends on how active you are. We aim to eat animal protein twice a month as we are quite active - the body requires very little compared to how much Western diets typically include. Our digestive systems struggle with meat protein however so we often undertake short water fasts to improve motility,
If you know you can tolerate a food group not included below and your GI can process meat, feel free to play around and spice things up. It's important, as with any diet, that you can enjoy the limited foods available to you while being as safe and health-conscious as possible.
***AVOID PROBIOTICS AND PREBIOTICS DURING HEALING STAGE 1 - SIBO comprises of 'good' and 'bad' bacteria. The 'good' can cause just as much damage as the 'bad' because they are in the wrong place. They should only inhabit the colon. You don't want to increase your bacterial load. Avoid all fermented foods also.
***Try to cook with no or as little oil as possible as when heated, it is highly inflammatory!

Our SIBO-safe and incredibly tasty version of a familiar dish which everyone loves. This is the most complicated of our recipes but it's well worth the effort.

We created the below probiotic rich foods and recipes with the aim to repopulate the gut (the large colon) with good bacteria essential for wellbeing. Before trying any of the below recipes, your bacterial burden should be far fewer and it's essential that the underlying cause of your SIBO (likely to be a gut motility disorder) has been fixed. Otherwise, the bacteria you consume will repopulate your SI again and the SIBO cycle will begin all over again - relapse is very common with SIBO.
