Many conventionally trained MDs/Drs are now turning to Functional Medicine, as they find 21st c. medicine and its symptomatic approach unable to address and help patients with chronic illnesses such as AI and gut disorders and mental health conditions. We reference the following practitioners throughout this site, and each is a source of information and inspiration -
- Dr David Jockers - Functional Nutritionist. Many informative, brilliant articles and information on Digestive Health and AI.
- Dr Mark Hyman - Cleveland Clinic's Center for Functional Medicine and the Founder of The UltraWellness Center
- Dr Amy Myers - MD turned functional practitioner. Although there is a lot of self-promotion and marketing on her site, her GUT Archive is full of useful info on SIBO + AI, as well as her numerous articles. She specialises in gut health and women's health.
- Dr Rangan Chatterjee - MD turned functional practitioner (like Dr Myers) who focuses on stress reduction and lifestyle changes to achieve wellness.
- Dr John Bergman - Chiropractor and functional practitioner. Although he focusses on his bugbears vaccinations and monosodium glutamate (MSG) a bit too much, his True Health Tuesday talks on YouTube are still informative, inspiring, positive and really entertaining - he's great to watch!
- Dr Michael Mosley - best known for his amazing BBC science documentaries like Pain, Pus and Poison (which looks at mavericks such as Friedrich Sertürner who created Morphine - the very first modern "medicine/drug" derived from Opium (the seeds of the Opium plant) thus beginning modern Pharmacology and his life-changing doc Eat Fast and Live Longer. After discovering fasting, Mosley has popularised and developed numerous intermittent fasting/time restricted eating (TRE) and caloric restriction routines and Mediterranean-inspired recipes to promote health, wellness and longevity. He has written and co-written some quality books such as The Fast Diet. Check out his website The Fast 800 - a great health resource.
